The Coach and Horses Inn

At a glance

Bar menu
Open all year

A cosy refuge in any weather, this family-run, 17th-century coaching inn stands on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Besides the beautiful location, its charms include stripped wood furniture and low beams, real log-burning fires plus a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Expect a great selection of real ales and hearty good home cooking that uses the best of local produce. A typical menu includes pork trio – pork belly, loin chop and traditional Cumberland sausage, apple cider sauce, mushroom, leeks and new potatoes; spicy five bean and vegetable casserole, grilled haloumi and herbed rice; or seared pavé of fresh salmon with pesto dressing, potato stack and fine green beans. Hot and cold sandwiches and baguettes provide lighter options.
