When the old market town of Ulverston’s most famous son – the comic actor Stan Laurel – was born in 1890, this town-centre pub was still a farmhouse with two cottages surrounded by fields and orchards. Owners Trudi and Paul Dewar serve a selection of locally brewed real ales and a full menu of traditional pub food plus a specials board. Take your pick from dishes such as BBQ baby back ribs; chicken forestière; peppered pork; steak and ale pie; and the ever popular ‘Stan’s renowned lasagne’.
