Surrounded by high fells and beautiful scenery, The Royal Oak is set in the centre of the village and is the perfect base for walkers. The interior is all oak beams and log fires, and the menu offers hearty pub food, such as slow-roasted pork belly and apple flavoured mash; Thai red chicken curry; smoky bacon and chorizo sausage pasta; and giant Yorkshire pudding filled with Cumberland sausage casserole, all served alongside local ales, such as Sneck Lifter or Cumberland Ale. Visitors can extend the experience by staying over in the comfortable en suite bedrooms.
