When this was a farm, ginning was the process by which horses were used to turn a grindstone that crushed grain. It took place in the rounded area known today as the Ginn Room and which is now the main bar, serving local ales. The dining areas, all butter yellow, bright check curtains and terracotta tiles, rather bring the Mediterranean to mind, although the extensive menu and specials are both cosmopolitan and traditional. The pub has a good reputation for steaks but others options are cod loin, streaky bacon and smoked cheese sauce; whole shoulder of lamb marinated in mint, honey and garlic; pan-fried sea bass fillet with cracked black pepper and lemon butter. A good vegetarian choice is available.
