It’s hard to believe that this old whitewashed pub was, at one time, closed for three years. There are real fires in the restaurant, where a three-course lunch or evening meal might be pigeon breast with shallot petals, parsnip, black pudding; braised beef cheeks, celeriac, roast root vegetables; and sticky toffee pudding. Vegetarians will find dishes such as Black Dub Blue soufflé; and sweet potato and pumpkin gnocchi. Three regularly-changing real ales and eight wines by the glass are served in the open-plan bar. Cyclists will appreciate the lock-up facility for their bikes.
