Originally a woollen mill, the refurbished Coledale Inn dates from around 1824 and had stints as a pencil mill and a private house before becoming the inn it is today. The interior is attractively designed, whilst footpaths leading off from the large gardens make it ideal for exploring the nearby fells. Two homely bars serve a selection of local ales while traditional lunch and dinner menus are served in the dining room. Typical choices include duo of black pudding and haggis; chilli con carne; rosemary and garlic chicken; and hot chocolate and fudge cake; there’s further options on the specials board.
