After arriving as the new owners, Jason and Helen Allen quickly stamped their personality on this thatched 16th-century pub, just 15 minutes from Newquay. Popular with locals and visitors alike, the pub comprises a long bar, family room, children’s play area, courtyards and huge beer garden. Local ingredients are the cornerstone of the family-friendly menu, which might kick off with Cornish mussels cooked in cider, shallots, garlic and cream. Home-made fish pie; chicken curry; and wild mushroom Stroganoff are typical main courses. Leave a space for the lemon and lime posset.
