Overlooking the lush Lyher Valley and run by the same family for many years, this delightful inn once housed staff from Stoketon Manor, whose ruins lie on the other side of the courtyard. It is set in 10 acres of lawns and woodland, yet is only 15 minutes from Plymouth. There is an menu offering something for everyone – Mediterranean meze; confit of belly pork; and home-made soup of the day fits the light bites and starters’ bill; then for a main course how about their ‘famous’ suet pudding smothered in gravy; rack of roasted ribs; Thai chicken curry; a prime steak; or warm Manuka smoked duck salad? There’s a children's playground and a treehouse. The spacious bedrooms are individually designed.
