Close to the foot ferry from Plymouth, this inn next to Mount Edgcumbe Country Park offers fabulous views from its bow window seats and waterside terrace, which take in Drakes Island, the Royal William Yard and the marina. Real ales from St Austell like Tribute, plus Healey’s Cornish Rattler cider, and quality home-cooked food are served in a series of rooms, which are full of character with American oak panelling and flagstone floors. The same extensive menu is offered throughout and dishes are a mixture of international and traditional British pub favourites: pork and chicken liver pâté; or salt and pepper squid to start, followed by beef and Merlot pie, chicken Rossini; or smoked haddock rarebit. Vegetarian options might include gnocchi in tomato and herb sauce. Sandwiches, loaded potato skins and platters are also available. The inn has a courtyard garden.
