Old railway inn popular with cyclists and walkers

At a glance

Kids play area
Free Wi-Fi

This sturdy inn has a hint of Edwardian grandeur whilst benefiting from contemporary comforts; print-clad walls and dado rails, comfy sofas and open fires. Its village setting makes the most of the area’s delights, including the many miles of footpaths, cycle trails and meres of nearby Delamere Forest; Chester is just one stop away on the train. Local ales draw an appreciative crowd, whilst the wide-ranging menu is matched by an extensive wine list. The menus, that include good fish and vegetarian choices, change every six weeks. The terrace and large grassy beer garden overlooks the well-kept bowling green which is frequently used in the summer months.
