Pub group Brunning & Price care hugely about their properties, as is evident here. Named after local landowners, the Earls of Dysart, this classic village pub has open fires, lots of old oak, and properly filled bookcases – not a job lot from a jumble sale. Built in the mid-18th century, this was at one time it was simultaneously farmhouse, abattoir and pub. Views from the garden take in two castles and the parish church.
