On the wooded flank of Garth Hill, high above Taffs Well, the views are great; across the vale, for example, is Castell Coch, built in Victorian Gothic Revival style. The Gwaelod, meaning 'foot of the mountain', has its own brewery nicknamed 'The Brew with a View'.
