Nudging the cricket pitches and grassy recreation ground, this village pub has a new team on board. Savvy diners escaping the hubbub of nearby Cambridge beat a path to the cool, chic interior that creates a relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy the modern menus. Lunchtime brings choices such as upmarket pizzas, filled ciabattas, salads, deep-fried whitebait, cured and cooked meats, and baked camembert. Come the evening, expect dishes such as celeriac and white truffle soup; confit duck leg, lentils, bacon and Savoy cabbage; and crème brûlée with boozy prunes. The wine list features around 30 bins and beers are from East Anglian breweries. In summer, children can happily play in the spacious garden.
