The Blue Lion has been an integral part of Hardwick village life since it began trading as a pub in 1737. A rotating selection of guest ales and 10 wines by the glass keep local drinkers happy and the kitchen prides itself on using local produce including the pub’s own rare breed sheep. A starter of crispy lamb on Asian-style salad with chilli, ginger and coriander dressing might be followed by a main course of smoked salmon fillet with chargrilled artichoke, black olive purée and sun-dried tomato tapenade. Look out for the summer beer festival.
