All the right elements of an English country pub are here: the low-beamed bar, the wooden floors, the real fires, the mismatched furniture and a minimum of four real ales, including XT from Long Crendon and Fuller's London Pride. You can expect dishes such as pumpkin and marrow curry; pan-fried sea bream; hand-made shortcrust pie of the day; Cublington pork sausages, mash, onion rings and sage gravy; and beer-battered whiting and hand-cut chips. Finish with spiced bread pudding and nutmeg custard or half-baked chocolate cake. There are barbecues on Saturday evenings from May to September.
