Unusually this 18th-century pub is on the first floor, which slopes steeply from one end of the bar to the other; the balcony overlooks the Chilterns. The pub has been recognised for its well-kept ales and cellar, and the menu of no-nonsense pub favourites is backed by a comprehensive range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free and dairy-free options. The pub hosts events throughout the year, including 'unplugged nights', classic car and bike meets, 'autojumbles', live music and beer festivals. The huge garden is bounded by streams.
