Three generations of landlady Caroline Shone’s family have run this part 14th-century inn; it’s said that George III sometimes stopped here when he resided at Windsor Castle. The choice of real ales in the wood-panelled bar, the oldest part of the pub, runs to two guests in addition to Bingham's locally brewed Twyford Tipple. The 50-bin wine list includes a white and a rosé from nearby Stanlake Park vineyard. In the attractive restaurant, which overlooks a courtyard and fountain, the menu (this also applies in the bar) offers light meals such as scampi and chips; seafood pie; and camembert tart. Classic mains include various steaks; seared calves' liver with crispy bacon and onion rings; or lamb hot pot. There is also an extensive BBQ menu, and a selection of home-made desserts. Beer festivals take place in June and November.
