Penally Abbey is a welcome new addition to the AA grading scheme, with an AA Three Star Hotel Classification awarded and an AA merit score of 78% achieved, with scope here to further strengthen at future inspections. The team here are all friendly with a genuine concern for guest comfort and enjoyment with appropriate conversation made at each contact point. Service was attentive although some missed opportunities were outlined to further enhance. Physically the quality is to be commended, with the majority of the property refurbished in the last two years. Bedrooms have been finished to a high standard, although some further furnishing needed, all offer high levels of quality and comfort. Likewise bathrooms are commensurate quality with bedrooms, well planned for ease of use and the planned reconfiguration of the last two will be positive. Cleanliness was diligent throughout the property with sound processes in place, well done to the team. Cuisine is an important part of the business and was enjoyable throughout the stay. The use of fresh vibrant ingredients with accurate cooking skills was noted, however balance of flavours needed to be addressed and a greater consistency throughout dinner to achieve the aspiration here and The AA are happy to assist if needed.
