Dacia Sandero TCe 90

Dacia touts the Sandero as being “the most affordable car in Britain”. Plus, it was awarded ‘Best Small Car for Value’ at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards in 2022. So, what’s all the fuss about? Well, it’s surprisingly roomy for a small car, with lots of space for passengers and luggage. It’s got manual transmission, rides comfortably, and returns a very decent 53.3 MPG.

In terms of extra features, you get aircon, a touchscreen infotainment system with USB, Bluetooth and DAB radio. There’s also cruise control, speed limiter with audible warning, rear camera and parking sensors. So, it’s safe, comfortable and practical. What’s not to like?

The outside sports 16-inch alloys and a black bi-tone roof, while the interior has an interesting ‘squircle’ design with nice analogue dials. But it’s by no means a triumph of style over substance, as it’s also really comfy, and the engine packs quite the punch.

There are also a whopping 12 driver-assist features, including lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, cruise control with speed setpoint, active safety braking and traffic-sign recognition.

    VW Taigo Life

With the reliability you’d expect from a Volkswagen, the Taigo is a comfortable and practical compact SUV, which drives fantastically. It’s a manual model, returning a decent 50.4 MPG. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room for passengers in the back.

But just wait until we tell you about the equipment it comes with.
