This smart bistro is out of the same stable as The Greenhouse and Umu, and brings a touch of southern French panache to the Brompton Road. It's a cosmopolitan joint with sunny weather roll-back doors and pavement tables, and a classy interior done out with striking artworks (including Julian Opie), moody lighting and a zinc-topped bar. David Escobar's cooking (formerly of the highly acclaimed Lameloise restaurant near Dijon) speaks with a Provençal accent and is driven by top-notch seasonal ingredients. Petites bouchées, including the likes of cromesquis of chorizo with Provençal sauce, can be shared as is the current fashion, before an entrée of grilled stuffed squid with piquillo pepper and passata sauce, and plats principaux such as grilled sea bass with lavender hollandaise and Swiss chard, or milk-fed Limousin lamb leg (for two). Bouillabaisse is a house signature, alongside the super-sized soufflés, while the 700-bin Provençal-accented wine list is a corker.
