The Half Moon

Church Road, WINDLESHAM, GU20 6BN

Family-owned since 1909, Helga and Conrad Sturt's slate-floored, low-beamed, 17th-century free house offers the traditional country pub experience, including locally brewed Hogs Back real ale and Lilley's Bee Sting cider from Somerset. There's plenty of choice at lunchtime, while dinner options include Cumberland sausage with creamed potatoes, crispy leeks and onion jus; grilled fillet of sea bass with spicy tomato and king prawn sauce; ricotta, spinach and wild mushroom cannelloni; and local game in season. Go past the patio terrace into the well-kept beer garden with a children's play area. Check the website for beer festival dates.
