Free Press

Prospect Row, CAMBRIDGE, CB1 1DU

A pub for over 120 years, the Free Press gets its name from the time when part of it was a printing press which produced a free Cambridge newspaper. Now a haunt for students, academics, locals and visitors, this atmospheric and picturesque backstreet pub near the city centre has open fires and a beautiful walled garden - but no music, mobile phones or gaming machines. Punters are attracted by first-rate real ales and great home-made food such as toasted ciabattas; seafood platter; lamb's liver and bacon with bubble-and-squeak and gravy.
