Sir John Barleycorn

The name of this friendly thatched establishment comes from a folksong celebrating the transformation of barley to beer. Now owned by Fuller's, it is formed from three 12th-century cottages, one of which was once home to the charcoal burner who discovered the body of King William Rufus. Beers on offer are Fuller's London Pride and HSB, while ciders are represented by Westons Stowford Press and Old Rosie. The menu has something for everyone with quick snacks and sandwiches, a children's menu and traditional dishes like New Forest sausages, honey-roast ham, and fillet of sea bass. More inventive options are chicken and pea risotto, and smoked mackerel salad.
