Hospitality and service are key features at this imposing Grade I listed country-house hotel, situated in 175 acres of grounds and landscaped gardens. Originally a manor house dating from the Elizabethan era, the building was extended in the 17th and 18th centuries. It was a Red Cross hospital in World War II and has been a hotel for nearly forty years. Individually decorated bedrooms offer a high degree of comfort; each one is tastefully furnished and equipped with many thoughtful touches. we accidently got the Broganza, a huge 3 roomed room with a the historical drawing room, dressing area room and stately bedroom with a double walk in shower room. What a result when we should of been in a room a fifth of this ones size. Service from Staff was fantastic, along with the a le carte menu which was gorgeous to say the least. it was my fiances 40th and they made extra efforts, even the pianist playing happy birthday as we entered the dinner hall.

Disappointed, attitude of staff not good. No friendly smile etc. Attended a wedding. Very enjoyable. Attitude and food inferior. Eaten as well for less. The atmosphere was officious. Could be enjoyable place with more communication between guests and staff. Staff helpful but not permitted to respond to guests!! Staff uniform adequate except those more senior members. Delighted Iwas not paying full cost of room due to wedding package. I shall not return
