This privately owned hotel sits in 30 acres of attractive parkland with lakes, complete with roaming geese. The hotel has been described as a hamlet of character buildings, each furnished in a style that complements the age of the property; the oldest one dating back to 1475. Cuisine in the adjacent 'Auberge de France' offers interesting, quality dishes, whilst breakfast is served in the hotel dining room. Restaurant staff delightful and food good, but same limited menu all 4 nights of our visit. Room was cramped and too small for the bed, but that was comfortable. Nowhere to store luggage. En suite facilities OK but in some need of maintenance. Mirror lights are behind one's head, so useless. Reception totally lacking in information about local attractions or places of interest. Management totally ignored my subsequent letter regarding shortcomings. Spa excellent.
