Glenapp Castle

BALLANTRAE, KA26 0NZ

AA Logo 5 star rating
Hotel

4 rosettes

Friendly hospitality and attentive service prevail at this stunning Victorian castle, set in extensive private grounds to the south of the village. Impeccably furnished bedrooms are graced with antiques and period pieces, and include two master rooms and a ground-floor family suite. Breathtaking views of Arran and Ailsa Craig can be enjoyed from the delightful, sumptuous day rooms and from many of the bedrooms. The outstanding cuisine is a real draw here; dinner is offered on a well crafted and imaginative fixed six-course menu. Much of the fruit, vegetables and herbs come from the hotel's own garden. Guests should make a point of walking round the wonderful 36-acre grounds, and take a look at the azalea pond, walled vegetable gardens and restored Victorian greenhouses.

A truly wonderful experience. The food was amazing, the chef will surely be poached by a top London restaurant soon, so catch him here while you can. The castle is in a beautiful setting with glorious views. The rooms, both public and bedrooms are sumptuous without being too stuffy or formal. We had 2 bedrooms which interconnected via a private sitting room, perfect to enjoy a glass of something before dinner. The staff here are attentive and friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Our visit represented one of the most relaxing visits to any Hotel we have experienced. The staff were atentive proffesional and friendly. The Casle and its surroundings are impresive and immaculatly presented. Then there was the Dinning. The 3 Rosett status totally underplays the quality of the food and service. Which was a most amazing experience combining the best Clasical styles with a touch of Modernism. Simply one of the most breath taking culinary experiences ever. Will be back.

Best hotel I had ever visited. The staff were attentive and wonderful. The restaurant was perfect for that wonderful meal and the rooms were superb. A walk in the delightful grounds is also certainly reccomended
