"The day I got something for nothing"

#ithappenedtome

"As my parents are elderly, I decided to give their car a quick check before they drove to Hastings for a funeral. I discovered that the front wipers were totally perished. They didn’t remove rain from the windscreen so much as rearrange it into different patterns.

"I whizzed round to the local petrol station in Camberley, only to find that wiper blades aren’t sold at petrol stations anymore. So I went to Fleet services on the M3 to buy some. No luck there either.

"By now I was being to despair. It was then that I saw an AA patrol standing by his van.

"Being a member I went up to him and explained my plight, hoping he might be able to point me in the direction of somewhere I could buy windscreen wipers. Instead, he took out a brace of used wiper blades from his van and explained to me how it could swap the rubber inserts over on my parents existing wipers. When I offered to pay he refused to hear of it. Needless to say, his tip worked a treat and my parents were able to safely go to Hastings the following morning."
