New customers buying AA Breakdown Cover with National Recovery and paying on an annual basis will get up to £75 of fuel. This will come in the form of an AA Miles More Prepaid MasterCard® that can be used at any UK retailers that display the MasterCard Acceptance Mark. The value will depend on the options added:

  • £30 card when adding National Recovery
  • £40 card when adding National Recovery and At Home
  • £75 card when adding National Recovery, At Home and Onward Travel

The card will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Only one card will be allocated per policy (with a maximum of three cards per household).

In addition, new customers buying any level of AA Breakdown Cover and paying on an annual or monthly basis can get two nights for the price of one at participating hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs across the UK until 31 December 2015. They can also get discounted entry to hundreds of participating visitor attractions until 31 December 2015. There's over 500 venues to choose from including galleries, historical properties, museums, science centres and animal attractions.

These offers will be fulfilled on behalf of the AA by a third party (TLC Marketing UK Ltd). You'll be sent a unique offer activation code and details on how to claim the offers by email 28–35 days after purchase. This unique code will be valid for 30 days from the date of issue. The AA reserves the right to decline offer claims where payment has not been received or a refund has been given. The offer ends 11 August 2015 and is only open to UK residents aged 16+. It is not available to customers arriving from 'cashback' websites including Quidco, Top Cashback, Asperity and Greasy Palm. There is no cash alternative to any part of these offers and the AA reserves the right to withdraw or alter this promotion without prior notice at any time in the event of circumstances beyond its control. 1 Arrangement and administration fee

Prices shown include fees payable under a separate contract between you and Automobile Association Insurance Services Limited (AAIS) for arranging and administering your cover. The fees are £24 for vehicle cover and cover for you, £33 for cover for two people and £42 for family cover. There is a fee of £9 each for National Recovery, At Home and Onward Travel. If paying monthly, these fees will be split across your monthly instalments. By paying these amounts you will enter into the contract with AAIS. When you renew, you can choose to set up a direct debit or a continuous payment by credit or debit card. These options will save you time in the future, as we'll renew your cover automatically at the end of the year.

Will you come out if I'm the passenger?

Of course. If you've got cover for you, we'll come to your rescue to fix any vehicle you're travelling in – whether as the driver, or as a passenger.

Or you have vehicle cover, you're covered as the driver or passenger in the vehicle that's registered with us.

Will you charge me for call-outs?

No – with AA Breakdown Cover, you can call us out as many times as you need to without being charged.

However, repeat call-outs for the same fault will not be covered.

How quickly can you reach me?

We've got the latest satellite technology to help find the shortest route to you – on average, our patrols arrive within 45 minutes – and we give priority to people in vulnerable situations.

Are there any restrictions on the vehicles you cover?

We can cover your vehicle as long as it's less than 3.5 tonnes (3,500kg) and no wider than 7ft 6in (2.3m). This applies to any caravans and trailers that are on tow as well.

This means that if you break down, we'll be able to recover your vehicle, if necessary.

We'll cover vehicles of any age or mileage. However, if they're used for reward – such as taxis, limos or delivery vehicles – we can't offer the optional Parts and Garage Cover.

Is my pet covered if I break down?

We do our best to accommodate pets wherever possible. If we can't transport your pet, we'll do what we can to help with alternative arrangements for them.

We recommend that you use suitable pet travel carriers, or restraints that are transferable – this helps to ensure that we can transport your pet safely.

Will family cover still apply to students away from home?

Yes – if you have drivers in your household living away from home at university or a temporary address in the UK, they're still covered if you have family cover.

Will my UK cover work in the Republic of Ireland?

The Republic of Ireland isn't covered under UK membership. However, we do have an arrangement with AA Ireland that means they'll provide you with an equivalent level of service if you break down there (apart from Parts and Garage Cover, which won't apply).

Buying AA Breakdown Cover

Can I buy cover online if I've already broken down?

If you're currently broken down, you can't buy cover online – but you can still call our emergency lines 24/7, on 0800 88 77 66, to arrange cover and assistance.

Additional charges will apply if you don't already have cover when you break down.

How soon will I be covered, if I buy online?

Your Roadside Assistance begins immediately after your online application has been successfully processed – we'll email you confirmation of your cover.

You'll receive your documents and membership card(s) through the post within 28 days.

If you've chosen Cover at Home, National Recovery and Onward Travel, these will start 24 hours after your membership begins. Parts and Garage Cover begins 14 days after your cover has started.

How can I pay?

You can choose from three types of payment – annually by card, annually by Direct Debit, or monthly by Direct Debit.

If you pay monthly, you'll pay an initial deposit by card before we set up a monthly Direct Debit from your bank account. Your first Direct Debit payment will be taken in two weeks' time – followed by monthly payments on or around the same date of each month.

We only offer continuous payment options online, as this is the easiest way to arrange cover. However, if you'd prefer to make a one-off payment for one year of cover only, just call us on 0800 085 2721.

Is my online payment secure?

Yes – we use the highest form of encryption that's generally available, to make sure your payment is safe.

Our secure-server software scrambles all the details you enter before they are sent, so that only we can understand them.

Can I change my level of cover after I've bought it?

We'll write to you well in advance of your renewal, but if you'd like to talk to someone about renewing or changing your cover now, just call us on 0343 316 4444.

Can I buy breakdown cover for someone else?

If you want to arrange personal cover for someone else, please call us on 0800 085 2721. However, if you just want to cover a specific vehicle you can buy vehicle cover online.

You can also buy breakdown cover gift membership if you'd like to buy cover as a present for someone else.

How do I claim the free cover that came with my insurance policy?

If you've received free breakdown cover as part of your home or car insurance, visit Free Roadside Cover to claim it.

Using AA Breakdown Cover

I haven't received my membership card yet – what should I do?

If you've broken down, don't worry – just call us on 0800 88 77 66.

If you bought your cover online, please remember to quote the membership number that was emailed to you at the time.

Don't forget that you can also call us out using our AA app.

How can I renew my membership?

We'll send you a renewal invitation about three weeks before your cover is due to expire. This will include details of your renewal, and the various ways to renew.

You'll soon be able to renew your cover online, but until then just call us on 0343 316 4444.

Will I keep the same membership number when I renew?

Yes – your membership number will stay the same, even if you've made changes to your cover.

Emergency breakdown lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Customer service lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm. Our sales line is also open Sunday 10am to 2pm.
