"No way could I fix this tyre"

#ithappenedtome

It’s not unheard of for AA Patrols like myself to get called out to jobs where a vehicle has been damaged by an animal. In fact, a mouse chewing through wires is more common than you might think. But one job that came up on my screen was one that I had never come across before.

A woman and her young son had gone for a day out at Longleat Safari Park. While driving through the lion enclosure, one of the lions apparently got bored and decided to bit the woman’s car tyre and take a big chunk out of it. Luckily she managed to drive out of the enclosure and park it. She then called the AA.

When I arrived I took one look at the tyre and knew that it was beyond repair. Unfortunately the spare was no good either, so I drove to a local dealer to get a new tyre while the woman took her child round the rest of the park.

After I had put the new tyre on I said to the woman that she must have got the fright of her life when the lion lunged at her car. She said she was terrified, but her son had thought it was great!
