"Not every day you recover a TV star"

#ithappenedtome

I was out on patrol in the Northampton area when I got a job in to pick up a Pontiac Trans-Am near Luton. "Isn't that the Knight Rider car?" I thought, as I recalled seeing one on the motorway that was modded to look exactly like the vehicle from the TV show.

"Nah, can't be..."

But sure enough, when I got to the job, there it was: KITT, complete with a jet black paint job and red front-mounted scanner bar. No voice modulator, though, sadly!

It turned out one of its sensors had overheated. And because it was such a specialist job, the member needed to get it fixed at an American motors specialist in Sandy - a town about half way between Luton and Cambridge.

I loaded the car onto the van and reconfigured the straps to keep them away from the expensive paint job the owner had done on the wheels. Turns out this version of KITT wasn't as indestructible as the one from the show!

The rest of the job was pretty straight forward, and the member was really happy for my help. But I've got to say, it did feel really cool driving down the motorway with Knight Rider on my truck. I mean, it's not every day you recover a TV star!
