"It was the closest I've got to fame"

#ithappenedtome

Everyone who works at the AA gets to spend a few days every year out on the road with a patrol, meeting customers and getting a feel for ‘life at the coalface’. In July last year, I spent a day travelling the beautiful Northumberland countryside with patrolman Mark Noble.

Our first call was to a car boot sale. To my surprise and delight, I found the member who had made the call was selling props from TV and Theatre shows - the back of his van was an Aladdin’s cave. It was bulging with props I recognised – including a skeleton and a filing cabinet used in one of the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ movies. The member also told me he’d just come from delivering some stage lighting to the home of a very famous Manchester singer.

Unfortunately, Mark’s patrol van didn’t have room for any memorabilia, so the only sale was the new battery Mark supplied and fitted!
