The AA reveals why it's the UK's most trusted brand
The AA expects a record 20 million drivers to be hitting the roads in their cars as part of their holidays in the UK and abroad this summer. As we reach the height of what's expected to be a very busy summer (last summer, the AA attended 825,000 breakdowns), the AA reflects on the services it has provided as the UK's number one breakdown cover provider for eight years in a row (Which?).
Over 14 million customers in the UK and Ireland rely on the AA to rescue them when they break down, and for good reason. The AA is committed to offering British motorists their best summer yet; organising a series of summer events and offers, including the chance to win a Volkswagen camper van.

Selecting the wrong fuel at the pumps is something we all dread, but the AA attended over 40,000 cases of misfuelled vehicles last year. This year, as part of the AA’s Summer Saviours campaign, we’re offering all our members a free summer car check – so we’ll know if something’s amiss.
In 2013, we recovered 127,000 AA members who suffered a break down. This year, we’ve offered free onward travel for those who bought roadside recovery and national recovery. This upgrades your cover to give you other travel options, such as car hire for up to 72 hours.
This summer is expected to be one of the busiest for motorists, with 38% of drivers saying they think they will be driving more in the UK this summer than last. Fortunately, the AA is at hand; we have more dedicated patrols on the road than all other UK breakdown service providers put together.
Thanks to the glorious weather last summer, more and more people are optimistic about this summer and are more likely to holiday within the UK. In fact according to an AA-Populus poll, 31% of 18-24 year olds were more inclined to stay in the UK. Thankfully, the AA can stay in touch with these youthful staycaters with a handy texting service, detailing exactly when one of our dedicated patrols will arrive.
As the UK’s largest motoring organisation, the AA has it covered - we employ digital mapping technology to help locate members precisely and quickly, and what’s more, with battery-related issues proving to be the most typical cause of a breakdown, we’ve ensured that our patrols carry over 40 different types of batteries to fit almost every car.
