Following a breakdown attended by the AA, your car, van or motorcycle may need replacement parts and even garage labour, which can be expensive. AA Members can take out repair cover, which can help to cover the costs.
These are average claim costs based on customers' experiences. We'll help pay for:
- batteries – can cost over £70
- starter motors – £219
- radiator replacement – £264
- cam belt failure – £129

Breakdown Repair Cover main benefits
You'll get cover for:
- up to five claims per year
- repair bills of up to £500 per claim less £25 excess (including VAT)
We'll also:
- arrange the repairs if your car, van or motorcycle needs to be taken to a garage
- ensure the garage repair is as simple, quick and hassle-free as possible

Haven't got AA Breakdown Cover?
Join the AA and you can add Breakdown Repair Cover to your Membership. Cost depends on your car, motorbike or van's age/mileage:
- less than 10 years old/100,000 miles – £69.50 a year (that's £6.49 a month) or
- 10 years old/100,000 miles or over – £93 a year (that's £8.79 a month)

Please note
- Once you've nominated a vehicle for Breakdown Repair Cover, you'll need to keep it serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Servicing must be done by a suitable garage business.
- A claim on your Breakdown Repair Cover can't be made for any faults that occur during the first 14 days after your agreed policy start date. Also, if you change your vehicle you won't be able to claim for 14 days after making the change.
- If you break down you must call for assistance under your AA Membership for any subsequent related claim under Breakdown Repair Cover to be considered.
