Hotel insurance – frequently asked questions

Why do I need hotel insurance?

Hotel insurance provides insurance cover for the legal liabilities and risks you face as an hotelier. A hotel insurance policy allows you to combine public and employers' liability cover with cover that's tailored to running a hotel.

Hotel insurance allows you to cover these risks as well as insuring wet and dry stock and other contents in one easily managed policy.

How do I buy hotel insurance?

Simply complete the hotel insurance enquiry form and give us a few details, and we'll phone you. Or you can call us on 0800 294 0905.

What types of establishment are covered?

  • hotels
  • bed and breakfasts (B&Bs)
  • guest houses

Call us on 0800 294 0905 if you're unsure about whether hotel insurance is right for your business.

What is money cover?

Running a hotel often involves having large sums of money on the premises at certain times. Money cover allows you to insure sums of £3,000 upwards. Money is covered, while it is:

  • stored overnight in a safe on your premises
  • on your premises during business hours
  • in transit to the bank

What is covered by glass cover?

Glass cover provides insurance for front of house glass, like window glass and sanitary ware.

What is business interruption insurance?

Business interruption covers your business against losses incurred following a loss covered by your hotel insurance.

For example, if you were unable to trade because of a fire at your hotel, business interruption insurance could pay for your lost earnings and costs for the period of interruption.
