The set-up is rather civilised in this Georgian mansion, which blends its airy period elegance with the look of a contemporary boutique city hotel. The dining room looks through vast arching windows into the garden, where the trees are spangled in fairy lights. Laid-back music floats from a softly-tinkling baby grand piano as the soundtrack to cooking that delivers imaginative modern ideas. Pressed pork belly is paired with scallop and apple-and-chorizo jam, while main course sees juniper-smoked loin of lamb pan-fried and served with roast garlic, girolles and sea aster. To finish, there's a deconstructed take on lemon meringue pie with raspberry sorbet.
