Brooklands Drive, WEYBRIDGE, KT13 0SL
This thrillingly modern structure is built on a grand scale overlooking the first purpose-built car racing circuit in the world, opening back in 1907. You get a great view of the track while slurping a cocktail in the stylish art deco-inspired bar, before heading into the 1907 Restaurant, where cool colour tones of charcoal and aubergine and darkwood surfaces give a moody club-like vibe to the space. There's a creative modern brasserie feel to the food, with the kitchen team keen to deploy adventurous cooking techniques in dishes that arrive dressed to thrill. Pan-fried scallops come with glazed pork belly, cauliflower pur?e and golden raisins, followed by pink and tender rump of lamb with Israeli couscous, smoked aubergine pur?e, and pomegranate seeds adding little tart explosions, or you might look to the grill for a straight-up steak - 28-day aged rib-eye, say, with the usual accompaniments and sauces. End on a dessert on a tiramis? theme with a contrasting bitter chocolate sorbet, or apricot parfait, tart and comp?te with rosemary sorbet.
