Brooklands Hotel

Brooklands Drive, WEYBRIDGE, KT13 0SL

2 rosettes

This thrillingly modern structure is built on a grand scale overlooking the first purpose-built car racing circuit in the world, opening back in 1907. You get a great view of the track while slurping a cocktail in the stylish art deco-inspired bar, before heading into the 1907 Restaurant, where cool colour tones of charcoal and aubergine and darkwood surfaces give a moody club-like vibe to the space. There's a creative modern brasserie feel to the food, with the kitchen team keen to deploy adventurous cooking techniques in dishes that arrive dressed to thrill. Salt cod brandade comes with watercress mayonnaise, a slow-poached egg and beurre noisette powder, followed by pink and tender duck breast with a spring roll of confit leg meat, bok choy, sesame and pine nut purée, pickled shimeji mushrooms and an aromatic jus. A dessert on a rhubarb theme ends on a high note with the tart vegetable arriving poached, in a crème brûlée and a sorbet, with walnut and cream cheese in a deconstructed carrot cake.
