Fifteen Cornwall

1 rosettes

Fifteen Cornwall reopened early in 2013 after a refit that saw the addition of a new antipasti bar and an improved kitchen, still open-to-view, now centred around a charcoal-fired Josper oven. It's a large restaurant, with a wooden floor, round-backed chairs at square and circular tables, teardrop-style lampshades and fabulous beach views. Jamie Oliver's principle hasn't changed: to give young people a solid grounding in kitchen skills and experience (he now has 20 apprentices here), and it seems to be working well judging by the quality of the food. Straightforward, unfussy Italian cooking is the order of the day, with dishes of upfront rustic flavours. Start with pasta - gnocchi with oxtail and sage, or taglierini with squid and mussels - and proceed to a steak with marrowbone and horseradish, monkfish with cime di rapa and rosemary, or duck with polenta and salsa verde. Had enough of tiramisł? Then go for lemon tart with rhubarb and clotted cream.
