Fifteen Cornwall

1 rosettes

Jamie Oliver's Cornish outpost has a sea view that presents an ever-changing colour tone of blue and green, while the interior is more than appealing when darkness has descended. The guiding principle of the place remains to give young people a solid grounding in kitchen skills and experience, and it has been a roaring success. It all takes place in a large, contemporary space with floor-to-ceiling windows serving up that seascape, and although it's an easy-going place, it's no surfer hangout. The classy fixtures and fittings and not-so-low prices mean this is a destination eatery, not necessarily somewhere you'd grab a bite after a day on the beach. There's even a tasting menu. The food follows the Italian principles beloved by Mr Oliver, and the kitchen delivers some good stuff. Creamy burrata with Italian black figs and hazelnuts is one way to begin, or go for a plate of pasta such as radiatore (yes, they look like old school radiators) with Pre Pen Farm ragu and pecorino. Main courses can deliver pan-fried turbot with peperonata.
