The Five Arrows

High Street, WADDESDON, HP18 0JE

2 rosettes

Part of the Rothschild estate, this small Victorian hotel stands at the gates of Waddesdon Manor but has none of the airs and graces of the grand French château-style stately home. The relaxed restaurant sports a smart, contemporary look with wine-related prints on the walls. The repertoire displays a seasonal focus that delivers bright contemporary ideas, starting with bouillabaisse soup, roasted red peppers, fennel and saffron. Next up, pan-fried cannon of lamb and slow-cooked shoulder is paired with fregola, tapenade, baby gem, broad beans and rosemary jus. For pudding, there's caramelised lemon tart and raspberry sorbet.
