The Quarterdeck is a shipshape, yachtie-themed setting of polished teak, gingham seats and square rails. The kitchen produces modern dishes bursting with bold flavours - pan-seared scallops are partnered with braised pork cheek, potato and truffle terrine, parsnip purée and sauced with a cider reduction, followed by a big, rich dish of roasted grouse matched with foie gras, creamy polenta, date purée, poached pear and caramelised shallots. Local fish and shellfish are a strong point too - perhaps a luxurious duo of pan-fried turbot and lobster medallion with carrot and lime purée, honeycomb and beurre blanc. A finale of apple pie millefeuille highlights strong technical skills.
