The Foxham Inn

1 rosettes

Dinner is served in both the small bar and the purpose-built restaurant at this red-brick country inn. There's variety aplenty on the enticing menu, with starters running from snails with noodles in a light soya broth to sautéed lamb's sweetbreads in a creamy rosemary sauce spiked with sherry. Dishes have clear, distinct flavours: ham hock roasted with honey and mustard, say, with free-range eggs and chips, or roast poussin in mushroom sauce with creamed potatoes and green beans. Fish might appear as fillet of sea bass with white wine sauce, mash and spinach. Conclude with a theme on lemon (pannacotta, drizzle cake and ice cream).
