Corsewall Lighthouse Hotel

Corsewall Point, Kirkcolm, STRANRAER, DG9 0QG

1 rosettes

Corsewall is a hotel, restaurant and still, following automation in 1994, an essential beacon for shipping in the Irish Sea. Perched high above the waves, it's reached via a winding, single-track road. With candle-lit, dark wooden tables, the maritime-themed restaurant occupies what used to be living quarters and stores. The daily changing menu keeps things relatively simple, so you might start with Kirkcudbright 'hot-smoked' peppered mackerel, before roast Braehead Estate guinea fowl supreme and venison sausage. Finish with richly flavoured treacle and almond tart with vanilla ice cream and brandy-scented cream swirls. Only one red and white wine is available by the glass.
