St Georges Esplanade, ST PETER PORT, Guernsey, GY1 2BG
When you're above the harbour just outside St Peter Port you should be in the market for spanking-fresh fish and seafood, and this unpretentious restaurant in converted fishermen's cottages comes up trumps. Reliable renditions of seared scallops with pea purée and crispy pancetta, and mains such as pan-fried brill fillet with potted mussels, crushed new potatoes and chives, all pass muster. Meat-eaters are not forgotten: herb-crusted rack of lamb, sauced with rosemary and red wine and served with dauphinoise potatoes, or chargrilled beef fillet with béarnaise and proper chips should keep them happy. Desserts such as sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce will put a smile on everyone's face.
