Seagrass has made quite a splash with its modern seafood-orientated cooking. Tucked away just off the seafront, a secretive doorway leads up to the cool, stylish first-floor restaurant. The kitchen makes everything - breads, stocks, ice cream - from scratch, and strong supply lines with local fishermen ensure that the shellfish in the platters of fruits de mer are plucked fresh from the bay. Make a start with pan-fried Cornish scallops with cucumber, lime and avocado, then move on to salted cod loin, matched enterprisingly with seafood cannelloni, roast tomato velouté, peas, samphire and crispy sea lettuce, and round off with pink grapefruit tart with candied walnuts and crème fraîche.
