The Adamson

127 South Street, ST ANDREWS, KY16 9UH

2 rosettes

Once home to photographer and physician Dr John Adamson (hence the name), the handsome building is a cool restaurant with exposed bricks, darkwood tables and a bar serving up nifty cocktails. The menu brings vim and vigour to the brasserie format with oodles of contemporary style and high-quality ingredients. Slow-roast tomato risotto with red pepper, pesto mozzarella and basil is a winning starter, ahead of new season lamb shoulder, which stars in a main course with lamb bacon, gem lettuce and deep-fried potato and sunblushed tomato gnocchi. The standard remains high with desserts such as banana parfait teamed with bitter chocolate, caramel and cherries.
