Dalmunzie Castle Hotel

2 rosettes

The castle was built in the 1920s in the Scottish Baronial style, turrets et al, while the Dalmunzie Estate itself (all 6,500 acres of it) dates from the early 1500s. Today's country-house hotel, at the end of a mile-long drive, has a restaurant that reflects the traditional setting and offers a menu with some contemporary touches. Thus cured mackerel is served with pickled raspberries in a simple but effective first course, while roast chicken with fondant potato, baby carrots and tempura broccoli is brought together by a flavoursome, glossy jus. Perthshire strawberry soufflé is the star of a summer dinner, partnered with white chocolate ice cream topped with sorrel and biscuit crumb.
