Conyngham Arms Hotel

Main Street, SLANE, Co Meath, ROI,

1 rosettes

This 18th-century coaching inn is home to a smart brasserie-style restaurant offering straightforward food from breakfast through to dinner. There's a decent amount of Irish produce on the menu, including goods from the owners' bakery and coffee shop in the village. Chicken liver parfait is made in-house and arrives encased in butter with lightly pickled cucumber and carrot to cut through the richness. Next up, lamb shanks come with creamy mash and a red wine jus, and locally-sourced chicken is chargrilled and served atop a well-made asparagus risotto. There's a burger or sirloin steak, too, and desserts extend to a nicely tart lemon tart or chocolate fudge cake.
