The Green, in a Grade II listed building, sets its sights on local and ethically sourced raw materials. Succulent chargrilled scallops come with a cylinder of black pudding and a dressing of leaves drizzled in sea buckthorn oil, toasted pine kernels adding some crunch. Quality ingredients are evident throughout: pink-roast rack of lamb, juicy and of super-meaty flavour, for instance, accompanied by an onion and potato cake and rich tarragon jus, and fillet of Cornish hake with roasted tomatoes and lemon butter. There are delicious desserts along the lines of ginger sticky toffee pudding, of clear toffee and ginger flavours, enhanced by lime leaf ice cream and Grand Marnier sauce.
