La Sablonnerie

Little Sark, SARK, Channel Islands, GY10 1SD

1 rosettes

Reaching this small hotel is an adventure: a horse-drawn carriage collects guests arriving on the ferry. The building itself is pretty ancient, with beams and stone walls as evidence. Seafood draws the attention, from lobster (thermidor, say, or grilled with a lime and ginger butter glaze) to grilled fillets of sea bass served simply with bisque and croquette potatoes, or monkfish braised in sherry vinegar with brown shrimps and bacon. A meat dish might be caramelised duck breast with Sarladaise potatoes and a sage and green peppercorn jus. To start try perfectly seared scallops with pancetta and cauliflower purée, and to finish almond mousse with poached pears and caramel sauce.
