Webbe's at The Fish Café

17 Tower Street, RYE, TN31 7AT

1 rosettes

A brick-built warehouse constructed in 1907 houses this modern seafood restaurant. Exposed brickwork, high ceilings and fish-related artwork all feed in to the buzz of the ground-floor dining room where the chefs work their magic in the open-plan kitchen. Pan-fried cuttlefish with chorizo, sautéed potatoes and rocket and parsley salad is a vibrant starter, ahead of pan-fried wild sea bass fillets with suitably seasonal wild garlic, asparagus, new potatoes and mussel and chive sauce. Meat eaters won't feel left out with the likes of ox cheek with garlic and herb mash, caramelised onions and red wine jus. Finish with fennel seed pannacotta with orange compôte and sorbet.
