Ronnie's of Thornbury

11 St Mary Street, THORNBURY, Bristol, BS35 2AB

2 rosettes

This 17th-century building wears its contemporary look well: stone walls, beamed ceilings, wooden floors and neutral hues are pointed up by paintings and photos by West Country artists. You can kick start the day with coffee and eggs Benedict at Ronnie's, or round it off with an excellent dinner. That might open with lasagne of braised ox cheek with wild mushrooms, before a main of pork tenderloin with mustard mash and Savoy cabbage in cider jus, or lightly spiced smoked haddock kedgeree. Tempting desserts include vanilla cheesecake with tropical fruit salad and passionfruit sorbet, or you could go for a savoury finish with the splendid array of English artisan cheeses.
